I absolutely love the style of this fishtail dress by carolina herrera, i love how the fishtail styled hem is emphasized by the layers of pleats and ruching, creating more of a gothic and dark feel to the outfit. The length and pleats used within the dress is also reminiscent of trends within the victorian era, making it even more gothic.
Whilst on my homepage i came across this wedding dress. I really like how the tie at the knee turns an ordingary looking ‘princess’ style dress into something so abstract and unusual.
when looking for figure templates for my designs i came across achraf amiri who i think is a brilliant illustrator! I really like how eerie and unusual his fashion drawings are. His work reminds me a lot of Tim Burton as they both have a way of making weird/ugly things beautiful. I aim to try and use Amiri as an influence whilst creating my own fashion illustration further along in my project
Again i like the use of hin tulle being used to create a vale but this time of a longer length. I really like the idea of using a similar material, in which i would have to test, to create a vale to mask the face which will dape down and merge with the dress. This photo has also given me the idea of how i can present my fashion show, with the models creating wodden like jagged movements instead of just walking normally down the catwalk.
absolutely love the length and texture of these garments, with the slightly off white colouring resembling a traditional victorian style
This image which i found in vogue is similar to the D&G baroque fashion show. I really like the idea of introducing a vale to my garments to create more of a gothic feel to my fashion show, by creating kind of a mysterious element of not being able to see the models face. This is also reminiscent to the victorian mourning clothes which i have also researched.
I was immediately drawn to this vogue image, i really love how flower petals have been used to make up a dress. I would like to try a method of pressing flowers within the sampling stage of my project, using petals with imperfections and aspects of colour to go along with my distressed gothic theme.
i really like how this image and the garment follow a gothic style, but with the use of colour instead of generic black and white. Whilst designing and planning my garments i want to look into introducing colour such as this blood red/purple while still enabling my designs to look gothic like this one.
Alexander McQueen Fall 2012, February 2012: i love the simpleness of the tulle skirt decorated with victorian style lace. This image is also beautifully lit drawing attention to the detailing, i really like this idea and will keep it in mind whilst planning my photoshoot.
i like the idea of lace for the bodice, it could easily be stained or inked up to create more of a gothic style or layered over a darker material
